why does my laptop screen and all the icons get stretched out after i connect it to a TV?

Hi all, I have a Toshiba Satellite M105 that runs Windows XP media center edition Everytime i plug it to my TV using a video cable, the screen, windows, and icons will get stretched out/enlarged after i unplug it from the TV. Any ideas as to how i return it to normal? Thanks a lot!

Your screen resolution is most likely changed.

I don’t know about Windows XP media center, but in Vista it’s like,

Right Click Desktop>Properties/Personalize>Display Settings tab (or the last one) and drag the slider up until it’s the highest.

Reset the display dpi until it shows correctly. The TV has a much larger screen size then your computer

  3. ep_26 says:

the resolution on your TV has a different resolution than on your laptop. Go to your display properties and click on the settings tab and chose the correct box in the upper part of the window(click on the identify button on bottom to find out which is the TV) click on that box to configure it to the correct resolution.
